Ammarnäs - vivid and remote
Ammarnäs is a small village and a gate to the Vindel mountains, one of our largest protected natural areas. Ammarnäs is where the road starts, located in the region of Sorsele in Swedish Lapland. Rivers Tjulån and Vindelälven blend here. The village itself is a blend of the Swedish frontiers, the indigenous Sami and the spectacular Lapland nature. In the midst of it is our place.
Vindel River is a pristine flyfishing paradise, but we also take you trekking, birdwatching, snowshoieng, cross-country skiing or offer you to step in to the world of the Sami and ingest ancient knowledge about the world that sadly is about to be forgotten. Why not spend a few nights at the Sami mountain farm Geunja?
Our restaurant offers dinners with a clear focus on locally produced ingredients. Moose, reindeer, fish, but also vegetarian dishes with a Lapland touch. Ammarnäs differs from our other Lapland destination, Tjuonajokk mainly because you can reach Ammarnäs by car, and you stay closer to civilization. Even though the Ammarnäs region is regarded as one of Sweden´s least populated areas.
Please enjoy life with us.
